CCU PASSWORD RESET TOOLS
CCU Applicants Only
You have applied to Coastal Carolina University, and you need to reset your password.
- Access the following link for applicants https://www.coastal.edu/app/accountsetup/ and choose "Reset your Password."
- Enter your CCU ID number, username (without the @coastal.edu), birth date (using the calendar pop-up), and the last four of the SSN. Check the "I’m not a Robot” box and complete the security captcha requested.
- Enter the security answer (it is not case sensitive).
- Create a strong password for the account and enter the password again in the second field to confirm.
Password criteria minimum requirements: The password must be at least eight characters long and must include characters from at least three of the following categories: uppercase letters, lower case letters, numbers, and special symbols. Do not use words contained in your username, your name, or your previously used passwords. You can change your password no more than once per 24-hour period. Note: Users are required to update Coastal passwords every 180 days. - A message will appear to confirm a successful password reset along with links to admissions application portal and the Student Account Center.

Change Your Password
You know your password and it has not expired.
- Access https://account.activedirectory.windowsazure.com/ChangePassword.aspx to change your password.
- Sign in with your full CCU email address using your current password, and choose Work/School Account.
- On the next screen, type your current network password in the Old password blank.
- Choose a strong password for your new password.
Password criteria minimum requirements: The password must be at least eight characters long and must include characters from at least three of the following categories: uppercase letters, lower case letters, numbers, and special symbols. Do not use words contained in your username, your name, or your previously used passwords. You can change your password no more than once per 24-hour period. Note: Users are required to update Coastal passwords every 180 days. - Retype the new password in the Confirm new password field.
- Click Submit and you have successfully changed your password. Please note there may be a 30-second delay for your password to be changed throughout the system.

You Forgot Your Password
- Access https://passwordreset.microsoftonline.com/.
- Type your full CCU email address in the User ID blank.
- Type the CAPTCHA code in the blank provided (it is not case-sensitive). If you are unable to read it, click the refresh symbol for a new code, or click the audio symbol to have a code read to you. Click Next.
- To verify your identity, you will be asked to enter the information for the two verification steps you chose when you registered for self-service password reset. This will consist of your phone number (you can choose to be called or texted), alternate email address, or the answers to the challenge questions you've chosen.
- Complete the two verification steps you receive and click Next.
- Choose a strong password for your new password.

Your Password Expired
When your password has expired, access https://passwordreset.microsoftonline.com/ to verify your identity and to begin setting up a new password. See directions posted in the You Forgot Your Password above.

Update Your Self-Service Password Reset Methods
- Access www.coastal.edu/sspr to be redirected to the Microsoft sign in screen. See MFA and SSPR Guide (pdf) for detailed instructions or continue the steps that follow.
- Log in with your CCU email address and current password.
- Once you use MFA to approve your log in, you are redirected to your Security Info screen.
- Update or add to your security methods.
